We are aware that fixing global warming and world poverty and hunger might be beyond our control in the short term ……… but we are reminded of the old tale about the starfish:

 A teacher and her class are walking along a beach where millions of starfish have washed up on the shore. The teacher turns around to see a little girl throwing starfish back into the water.

“What are you doing?” the teacher asked, “There are too many of them, you can’t possibly make a difference.”

The little girl looked down at the starfish in her hand, threw it back into the water and said, “I made a difference to that one.”
