Day 2

// November 24th, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog

Tuesday November 24
Our first full day in the top end gave us the chance to explore our surroundings for the first time. Some team members kicked off the day with an early run, and everyone was up with the sun and ready to go. Starting with a tour of the Adelaide River with Jumping Crocodile [...]

Day 1

// November 23rd, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog

Monday November 23
Following some teary farewells from parents, the team departed at 10am from Damascus Victoria St Campus, and we were checked in and ready to depart from Tullamarine airport at about 12:00pm. Our organisation was not rewarded, however; our plane was delayed, giving us the opportunity to enjoy the pleasures of Melbourne airport for [...]

24 days to go

// October 31st, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Blog

We have been on the road the past few weekends, tinkering with the gearing…on Tuesday night Clancy Purdie was riding at 110kph (which is the speed limit on the Western Freeway) in only 12th of 14 gears and held speeds of over 100kph for many kilometres…we think we’ve got the gearing right now.
The team also [...]

‘ADIMOV Dreaming’ is on the road..

// October 21st, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog

Last weekend saw ADIMOV Dreaming, the solar assisted recumbent bicycle, designed and built by the Damascus College Energy Breakthrough Team for their Outback Rode RAGE hit the road for its first trials.
The team was very pleased with the vehicle cruising comfortably at 60-70 kph on the flat and reaching 90kph (the team’s self imposed speed [...]

This is ‘ADIMOV Dreaming’

// October 12th, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog

Dear All,
Well the green machine that we will be riding from Darwin later this year is complete and had its first public showing on the weekend at the Herald Sun Tour in Sturt St (Locals may have noticed us in the background on the front page of today’s Ballarat Courier).
Old Collegian and Rode RAGE team [...]

It has been a hectic few weeks since our last update….

ADIMOV Dreaming is taking shape with all the components having been manufactured and now being assembled (see photos of the various phases in photo gallery). We expect to have it on the road for testing within 2 weeks.
The team shirts and caps have [...]

A rose by any other name

// July 8th, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Blog

Well our trusty chariot now has a name… “ADIMOV Dreaming”.
ADIMOV is an abreviation of our team motto, Adapt, Improvise and Overcome (also sounds a bit like a Russian rocket ship) and was the name of our very first vehicle built in 1998. Many in the team wanted to incorporate a Koorie word into the [...]

It’s getting exciting

// June 20th, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog

The excitement is building in the shed almost as fast as we are building the new vehicles.  We have now started our regular team meetings and its all starting to feel “more real”.  At the same time the nerves are building as we approach a challenge that none of us have ever done before… the [...]

A busy Month

// May 4th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Blog

It’s been a very busy month in Rode RAGE land. We have pulled the monocoque carbon fibre/Kevlar tub out of the mould and are very happy with the result. We have vacuum infused a new carbon fibre rear spreader, saving about 4kg on last year’s structure whilst also increasing the rigidity and strength [...]

Carbon Neutral

// April 16th, 2009 // No Comments » // Blog

We are proud of the fact that our program is running carbon neutral. Last year we visited a farm near Wagga Wagga where we helped plant Mallee Eucalypts to offset our carbon emissions for the entire history of our program since 1998.
